I have experience with leading workshops and classes in the areas of both mindfulness (Mindfulness-Based Stress Relaxation and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) and compassion and self-compassion training (Compassion Cultivation Training). Mindfulness interventions have been found to be efficacious in the treatment of chronic pain, stress reduction, and the prevention of the relapse of chronic depression, respectively.
I am a certified teacher of Compassion Cultivation Training, an 8-week course designed to develop the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness for oneself and others. The course, developed by a team of contemplative scholars, clinical psychologists, and researchers at Stanford University, combines contemplative practices with contemporary psychology and scientific research, and includes classroom instruction, daily meditation, mindfulness, and in-class experiential exercises.
